Last Fall we participated in Verkami campaign to recuperate some old vines and make a wine from them in the Àvila region. There were a variety of levels to pledge and we went with the option that was 36€ for six bottles and a t-shirt. It seemed like a pretty decent risk at the time.
Lo and behold, last month we were contacted to verify our address to receive the bottles. Once opening up the first one, we found that it was indeed 36€ very well spent and is one part of Malaparte Wines. The name of this particular wine comes from the fact that founders, Elisa and Rubén were nomadic enologs who have now found their home and honestly, have made a really great wine–of course it helps that it’s not the first time they’ve done this. You can get in on their new project to make a Tinto de Toro wine if you want to try this out as well and we recommend that you do.
